At MadeToOrder, we know some of the strongest leaders don’t just make an impact at work—they make an impact in their communities.
We’re proud to celebrate our own Hillary Schmidt, who was recently named the 2025 Little League® Softball Coach of the Year, an honor presented by Little League® and supported by the Positive Coaching Alliance. The national recognition celebrates volunteer coaches who go above and beyond to build confidence, character, and a love for the game in young athletes.
As part of the recognition, Hillary was also honored on the field during a Seattle Mariners game as their Hometown Hero—a fitting tribute to someone whose passion and dedication continue to leave a lasting mark on youth softball and her community.
For Hillary, coaching has never been about wins and losses.
A former Renton Little League player herself, she volunteers her time because she understands the lasting influence a great coach can have. She gladly makes the 30+ minute drive to and from practice because she believes every child deserves to feel encouraged, supported, and excited to step onto the field—regardless of their skill level or circumstances.
Known for her energy, humor, and heart, Hillary brings the same enthusiasm to the dugout that she brings to every interaction. She celebrates every player’s growth, every small victory, and even cheers on great moments from the opposing team. To her, success isn’t measured by the scoreboard—it’s measured by confidence gained, friendships formed, and smiles at the end of practice.
One lesson from Hillary’s coaching philosophy stands out: every player arrives with a different story. For some, softball is one of many activities. For others, it’s the only sport their family is able to make possible that season. Every practice is an opportunity to make kids feel welcomed, valued, and excited to be there.
As Hillary shared after receiving the honor:
“I am so honored and thrilled… Little League has given so much to me, so to give back and be received this way means everything.”
She also sees coaching as something much bigger than teaching fundamentals.
“Being someone’s light at practice—making them laugh, making them excited to be there—that’s what coaching is to me.”
In another interview, Hillary shared a perspective that perfectly captures her approach to leadership:
“I am another trusted adult in this child’s life. If you have the opportunity to impact a child’s life in a way that they can trust you… that’s huge.”
That servant-hearted approach is something we see every day at MTO.
Whether she’s collaborating with teammates, supporting clients, or mentoring young athletes after hours, Hillary leads with empathy, encouragement, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. She reminds us that leadership isn’t about recognition—it’s about showing up consistently, investing in people, and making those around you better.
We’re incredibly proud to have Hillary on Team MTO and grateful for the positive impact she’s making both inside our company and throughout her community.
Congratulations, Hillary, on this well-deserved honor. Thank you for representing what leadership, service, and heart truly look like. We’re lucky to have you on our team.
